April Degustabox

It's Degustabox time again and this month is full of lovely little health goodies. If you are new to my blog and haven't heard of Degustabox before, it's basically a monthly food subscription service where you get a big box of surprise food, and drinks delivered to your door every month for the whole family to enjoy. I have been getting this for a long while now and still to this day I look forward to seeing what's inside. Usually the contents include a few new things on the market to try, which is always good as it introduces you to new things you never would have thought of trying.

The brands included in this months box are -

Seabrook, Polo, Celia, Garofalo, Good Hemp, Dorset Cereals, Doisy & Dam's, Nothing But, Whitworths, VIPnuts, Pentimans.

The last two Degustbox's have been brilliant, but this one didn't blow me away quite as much as I have had some of the items included before. There where a few interesting additions though such as the Doisy & Dam's smoked tea & vanilla chocolate, VIPnuts in hot chilli and the Good Hemp hemp seed hearts.

Although I have had the Whitworths full of super macaroons before I was happy to see them inside they are delicious! it feels like you are having a naughty treat when they are actually really good for you as they are full of good ingredients such as flax seed, coconut and almonds. I'm always picking them up at Tesco.

I gave my other half the Celia Organic Larger that was included as he is more likely to enjoy that more than me. He actually didn't like this one unfortunately and couldn't finish it. Degustabox also added in snacks again by the brand Nothing But, these seem to be added quite regularly so I wasn't really fussed about them at first. But, I was on the hunt for a healthy snack the other day and the only thing I had lying about was these Nothing But dried peas and corn, which at first sounded a bit weird to me, but when I'm hungry ill give anything a try haha ... and much to my surprise I actually quite liked them haha.
There was also a very pretty bottle of Fentimans Pink Grapefruit tonic water, I'm not really sure if I will get any use of this as I don't really like tonic water, nor Gin that people like to mix it with....on a side note, am I the only one who isn't a fan of Gin these days?

I have been really enjoying using the Good Hemp - Hemp Seed Hearts, I have been sprinkling these on my salads and poached eggs with avocado - but I've also read you can add them to porridge and bakes ..so versatile and give a lovely nutty flavour and texture. They are a great way of getting in extra protein, fibre and omega 3 in your diet. This product was right up my street and probably the best addition in this months box.

The VIPnuts in hot chilli where really good, me and my other half have an addiction to anything peanutty so it was always going to be a hit. But Blimey VIPnuts aren't joking when they say they are HOT Chilli flavour! a few nuts and your mouth is on fire. Most the time I find with foods on the market these days, they label it as hot but it's actually quite mild. These on the other hand.....another level !! water at the ready.
The Doisy & Dam's chocolate grabbed my attention the most from the box, the packaging is so cute and obviously it's chocolate so there's another reason. The flavour though, very interesting. quinoa, smoked tea and vanilla - I really wanted to like it, and I don't want to sound strange but I'm being honest with you guys here, but to me it tasted quite erm...meaty/beefy?! honestly, I don't know if my taste buds where off or what, but I wasn't feeling it to be honest.  I would be interested in trying some other flavours they have out as I think they are very quirky and imaginative and I like that.

The Seabrook Lattice crisps (salt and black pepper) where quite nice, I liked the way the bag had a special little pocket seal to keep them fresher. The Garofalo Whole Wheat Penne Pasta was a handy stock cupboard essential. The kids love a good bowl of pasta and I like to use whole wheat versions the most as they are much better for you. Degustabox also included a pot of sugar free Polo's, always useful for the obvious breath freshening in a handy keep-in-your-car kind of tub. I like the way they are in a tub as they stay much fresher than they do in the packets. After all, no one likes a soggy Polo.

Degustabox is such great value, you get all of this for just £12.99 a month! It gets even better though... use the code (VNJG) at checkout and you'll get £7 off your first box making it just £5.99!
