Anastasia Beverly Hills are a cosmetics brand known for their amazing quality makeup, especially their highlighters in the form of 'glow kits'. My first glow kit which started off my obsession, was the one in 'That Glow' it contained 4 of the most pretty, warm golden and champagne highlight shades.. right up my street.
The ABH glow kits where one of those massively hyped products, so I had to just try it for myself. Plus other ABH products I own such as the 'Dip Brow', Brow Wiz' and their liquid lipsticks where of somewhat of a holy grail of mine.
To cut a long story short, these Glow Kits lived up to the hype, they are amazing! and ones I still reach for on a daily basis. I have since bought more palettes from the glow kit line, they are that good.
The formula is amazing, so buttery, crazy pigmented, and just looks so smooth and flawless on the skin.
Then the ABH 'Ultimate Glow Kit' got released recently, and oh my...I had to have it! My other half treated me to it for Christmas and I couldn't wait. My expectations where so high.
The palette holds 6 generously sized highlight shades held in a sleek, sturdy, cardboard case and a large mirror, which is always a bonus. Plus, the 'Glow Kit' text on the front of the palette actually glows in the dark!
The colours in this palette are beautiful, and I noticed they did look slightly more glittery in the pan than they did in the original glow kits. I got stuck in anyhow, and I noticed that the formula was quite a bit different to the original kits.
It pains me to say this but... I found them to be less pigmented, and more of a glitter to it than the usual POW! glowing goddess sheen on the face. I found myself having to build it up a bit, but maybe I'm just a bit of a glow addict?
I wasn't overly sure on the glittery bits it left on my face either, as it kind of fell a little down my face later in the day which was a shame.
You may be able to tell from my photos that they have a chunkier texture to the pans if you are familiar with the original glow kits. It's a shame Anastasia Beverly Hills made these a little different, because I think if they kept the formula everyone knows and loves, the same they would be bloody stunning.
I cant get enough of the shade 'White Sand' and 'Amber Gold' they are gorgeous, unique yet very wearable.
Overall I wasn't as blown away as I thought I would be, I think that's because their standards are so high, I kind of expected the same quality as before. I think ABH fancied trying something different, fair enough - but if it ain't' broke don't fix it. Personally the original glow kit formula is much better.
I do still really like this kit, and wear it often just because the colours are so pretty, I have to just get past it having a bit of sparkle than I'd usually like.
Have you tried the ABH Ultimate Glow Kit? What are your thoughts?
