August Birchbox

The August Birchbox actually takes shape of a scuba birchbag this month. There are 4 bright colours you could receive..Coral Reef (pictured), pink pufferfish, yellow tail and blue fin. I love this idea as a makeup bag is always handy and a great addition to pack for your holidays. It's almost as if you are getting an added extra with this months box.
Birchbox have been going for years now, but if you are unsure what it is, it's a monthly beauty subscription service which is all a complete surprise till it arrives at your door.

In this months Birchbox I received the following beauty goodies ...

Marcelle - Waterproof eyeliner
Subscribers could pick between 2 shades this month - Expresso and Mulberry. I rarely use eyeliner to be honest, but having a waterproof one means I may get some wear out of this. My eyes always seem to run and it never lasts so I don't see the point.

RRP - £10.50

Philip Kingsley - One More Day Dry Shampoo
I do love Phillip Kingsley hair products, and I think Birchbox do too, as I have tried most of the brand through previous birchboxes. I used this the other day after my workout, and it's actually very good, it made my hair look much fresher and it did give me one more day before washing as the name suggests. It does leave a bit of a white residue on my dark hair like most can, but it's easily rubbed in.
I would more than likely purchase this full size.

RRP - £14.50

Balance Me - Radiance Face Mask
One of my favourite things is trying out new face masks, so I was chuffed to see this addition from Balance Me - I used this the other day and I loved it! my skin started to break out due to that time of the month :( -my skin gets terrible! it was looking a bit dull aswell so thought it was the perfect time to try it.
It has teeny beads in the clay which gently exfoliate while drawing out impurities. It really did the job at brightening up my skin.

RRP- £18

Anatomicals - The buff stuff citrus body scrub
This smells lovely, very summery and appropriate for this months Birchbox theme. The grapefruit scent is very uplifting and energising. this would have been something I would have took on my holiday with me as its a good travel size. If only I got this bag a week earlier.

RRP - £3.99

Merci Handy - Antibacterial hand gel
Quite a random addition, it looks cute and the scents you can get sound really nice. But it's just an antibac hand gel so it really didn't excite me much to be honest. It will get used, I always carry one around in my bag, I just kind of expected a little more from Birchbox.

RRP - £2.90

Birchbox Extra - English Laundry perfume sample
I think I have received this at least 2 times now in previous birchboxes, and if you are a regular reader of my blog you''ll know perfume samples don't really do it for me in beauty boxes. This smells ok, quite fresh but it's not something i'd ever buy full size.

RRP - £60.00

Overall I don't think it was the greatest box, it was a little underwhelming. The bag was a nice addition I just don't think there was as many new brand discoveries. My top picks where the Philip Kingsley dry shampoo and the Balance Me face mask, everything else was a tad disappointing. But hay ho, they can't please everyone every month.. there are bound to be boxes that aren't quite you. Hopefully the next one hits it out of the park.

  1. I've actually never had any kind of beauty box subscription ..#badblogger! I'm tempted though just for the Philip Kingsley products, I hear such great things about them! Also, I love your photography, it's gorgeous!
