As promised in my last post (November Favourites) and to you guys on Instagram who asked if I'd do a post on my Makeup Geek Collection here it is! - plus, the fact that Beauty Bay have just re-stocked all the shades, I thought now would be a good idea before they sell out yet again.
Makeup Geek eyeshadows where always known in the beauty community for being these amazing quality shadows at an amazing price, some comparable to MAC - but unfortunately not easily available here in the U.K sigh*(story of my life). I know you could buy direct from their site, but I just don't like not knowing about customs charges they could hit me with, and didn't think it would be worth it. Then a few weeks ago i got told the most amazing news for any beauty fanatic, that Makeup Geek was now on Beauty Bay!
That was it! i was all over that site like a mad woman! and i seem to have bought a few every week since. The day they where released i also bought the large Z Palette from there to pop in the magnetised pans.
The quality + the price of these is what keeps me going back for more, i do own a few MAC ones and no other eyeshadow has impressed me as much as these, and at around £4.95 a pan i don't feel as guilty. I have always been the kinda girl who thinks you get what you pay for, if it's cheap then the quality isn't going to be there either. But i can honestly say these Makeup Geek shadows have proved me wrong in that aspect because they are just flipping amazing.
I have even been watching Marlena's YouTube who is the clever lady behind the Makeup Geek brand, she tells you how some of the shades where created, and how to create some stunning makeup looks with them too. Just watching her enthusiasm and seeing how much joy she gets out of creating these gorgeous shades, shows just how much she cares about the products she produces and pleasing her customers. you need to have a watch if you haven't already, you'll see what I mean.
Folied Makeup Geek Shadows-
These foiled shadows are just absolutely stunning and the colour pay off on these are so intense they really do give off that metallic foiled look. The texture of these are like nothing I've tried before, they almost feel bouncy in the pan, they feel creamy but apply as a powder. I like to use these on a medium flat shader brush and pack them on the centre of the lid and the lighter colour on the inner corner of the eye.
In the Spotlight (Foiled) - This is a beautiful shimmery champagne shade that looks amazing on the inner parts of the eye to make them appear more awake.
Grandstand (Foiled) - This one is a gorgeous pale chocolate shimmer, a good everyday shade and it looks lovely packed on the middle of the lid.
Flamethrower (Foiled) - This is a unique fiery copper shade which packs a punch! the name definitely suits it well.
Shimma Shimma (shimmer) - This is a beautiful, shimmery white with a hint of champagne to it. The perfect highlight shade to the inner corners of the eye and brow bone.
Peach Smoothie (matte) - Known as one of the perfect transition shades, its a pretty, warm, matte peach colour that works with so many looks.
Crème Brulee (matte) - A good neutral brown shade to have in any collection and another excellent transition shade, this one is just a lot more warm than peach smoothie.
Frappe (matte) - Looks similar to Crème Brulee but a tad warmer, great crease colour.
Latte (matte) - A warmer, deeper toned brown which looks lovely blended in the crease or packed on the lid.
Cocoa Bear (matte) - One of Makeup Geeks most popular shades - i can see why! it's a gorgeous, rich chocolate brown shade with a hint of red to it which brings so much warmth to the eyes.
Americano (matte) - This one is a very dark, cool toned brown. this will look amazing on the outer v smoked out.
Bitten (matte) - Another very popular shade, and one of my favourites! it's a stunning deep, cranberry colour. Perfect for this time of year.
Goddess (shimmer) - Goddess is a pretty, warm, coppery/bronze shimmer.
Cosmopolitan (shimmer) - I have herd this is a great dupe for MAC's expensive pink shadow, and that the quality is even better too. Its a unique one to me! Cosmopolitan is a pink shade but has a golden shimmery warmth to it, perfect for every day. The swatch of this just makes me swoon!
Petal Pusher (matte) - This is a matte, mauve/ dusty purple shade. I have been loving doing purple/mauve eye looks lately so thought this would be a nice one to use in the crease.
Cupcake (matte) - A girly, matte dusty pink shade.
Vintage (matte) - A beautiful, deep, dusty grey toned purple. This is one of my newer ones and i cant wait to try this out. I think it would look lovely on the lid and smoked out on the lower lash line.
Curfew (matte) - A jewel toned deep purple shade.
Corrupt (matte) - The blackest of all black shadows. I have tried a few in my time and a matte black has either too much fall out or rubbish, patchy colour pay off. This one is the ultimate black, the pigment is perfect on this!
If I was to recommend any shades from this palette for you to start off with it would be - In the spotlight, Peach Smoothie, Cocoa Bear and Bitten.
So there is my collection so far, and no doubt I will be adding more soon! Have you tried Makeup Geek yet? what shades have you picked up? and what would you recommend I add to my collection?
Thanks for reading,
