When it comes to self tanners I am very fussy, I think it's because I have tried a fair few in my life time and I have only ever come across one I truly like, which is the Xen Tan Absolute Luxe lotion one, it's also extremely pricey for a tanner too ( around £40) - damn my expensive taste!.
The Xen Tan one just gives me the colour I expect from a self tanner with no streaks, an even golden colour and it fades perfectly without leaving those horrid patches.
Last week I was contacted by a nice lady from a company called Diamonds on Demand, she kindly asked if I would like to try their self tanning mousse. As I said, I am a bit sceptical when it comes to these things, but after reading the information I was sent over I decided to give it a go. Diamonds on Demand aren't a brand you see about usually as these are being sold to salons, so I thought they are bound to be good if they are going in salons right? ...lets see shall we?!
The 2 hour Tanning Mousse comes in a pump dispensing bottle, and once you pump out the product you get an olive coloured mousse as opposed to something more orange which is exactly what you want...unless oompa loompa is you're kinda' look of course.
The instructions are pretty straight forward, if I can use this tanner easily enough then anyone can as I am by no means the tanning 'expert'. I applied this tan a day after using my frank body scrub just because it contains oils and it isn't good to use oily products on your skin before self tanning (or so I've heard) . Just before the tanner I moisturised concentrating on knees, elbows and ankles then started to apply the tan using a tanning mitt. I pumped the product onto the tanning mitt then rubbed it onto my skin in circular motions.
My first impressions on this tan was I liked how you could see where you had already applied the product so I didn't over do it or miss any bits of pasty skin. I was also impressed by how un-biscuity the scent was! I hate the usual fake tan smell don't you? even the Xen Tan one I love has more of a biscuit whiff.
I left this tan on for 2 hours for a light shade, you can leave it on for up to 4 hours if you want something darker. I opted for 2 hours, but I'm sure come the summer months I will leave it on a bit longer for a deeper tan.
When the 2 hours was up I washed it off in the shower and I couldn't believe how lovely the shade was - golden with no hint of orange. I was surprised to be honest as I wasn't expecting it to be this good, there was no patches and no weird dark knees/ankles bonus and it didn't dry my skin out either.
Before and After pictures
As you can see, not too dark and not too light. Just the perfect tan shade for me right now, I know its winter now and my legs won't be making much of an appearance but at least when I wear my ripped jeans it looks a little nicer than seeing ghostly knobbly knees poking through haha!.
This Tanning Mousse retails for £16 and I would happily pay that for this product, it's way cheaper than my to-go-to Xen Tan which gives just as good as a result in my opinion.
