New Years Eve Glam Essentials

Now if i was going out for NYE i would be prepping a few days before with face masks and self tanner. Then grabbing extra beauty items that i would only whip out on a fancy night out such as NYE, like a killer red lipstick and shimmer spray for sexy looking legs.. (i can at least try) ha.

My Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Collection

As promised in my last post (November Favourites) and to you guys on Instagram who asked if I'd do a post on my Makeup Geek Collection here it is! -  plus, the fact that Beauty Bay have just re-stocked all the shades, I thought now would be a good idea before they sell out yet again.

November Favourites

Is it just me or has the past month been amazing for new releases? There is one site in particular that are killing it at the moment by starting to sell brands that are very sought after, but not easily available in the U.K such as Makeup Geek and Dose of colours...the excitement was real, so thank you Beauty Bay.
My favourites this month are pretty much all new products, it was really hard for me to just choose a handful of products I enjoyed using last month as there was quite a few. So here are the ones that made the cut.

Juicetou - New Blac. Charcoal Cleanse

You may have seen my last review on the Juicetou 5 day juice cleanse I did (here), now the brand Juicetou have recently released a new product to their line called Blac.
Black. Is a charcoal cleanse which isn't a weight-loss aid this time, but a cleanse that helps eliminate acid wastes out of your system by using Activated Charcoal, it's also been branded the 'red carpet cleanse'... intriguing eh?

November Birchbox feat Skinny Dip

When I spotted on last months birchbox that they where going to collaborate with Skinny Dip London I was pretty excited to say the least, and the look of the boxes won me over straight away if i'm being honest! just look at the cute shell designs.
As a subscriber you could also get one of the special Birchbox x Skinny Dip iPhone case for a great price of £4 instead of the usual £12.
The phone case is gorgeous! it's a sturdy clear case, with pretty holographic shells scattered on it.

October Degustabox

Every month my family and I, look forward to receiving our Degustabox. It's always nice to get something through the post which is a complete surprise, especially one the whole family can enjoy- this is why I think Degustabox is such a great idea. You get a very generous amount of food and drink items, and most will include things you have never tried before which are new on the market.

October Favourites

So this months favourites is a tad late, but better late then never! Recently I have been embracing the darker, autumn colours. I do prefer autumn and winter beauty trends so i love it when it comes back around.

Last month I was really enjoying these beauties...

PMD - Professional at home Microderm

Microdermabrasion is a special skin care procedure, which exfoliates the top layer of your skin to reveal a new healthy, layer which reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and blemishes. This isn't like your basic exfoliating products, it's a lot more advanced than that.

This procedure can cost a small fortune at a skincare clinic - we are talking hundreds for one procedure, and usually you have to have more than one treatment.
That's where the PMD (Personal Microderm) comes in. This little hand-held device promises all those things in the comfort of your own home, at only a fraction of the price.

October Birchbox - Stylist & Back to Basics

Yet another amazing Birchbox choice this month! Subscibers got a chance to choose between two boxes, the Stylist one or Back to Basics. When I got my email on the box options I was over the moon with the contents in each one.
I thought that this month Birchbox have really taken on board things and giving much more of a range of products/brands such as the cult classic Bioderma, Seche Vite and Regenerate.
This will be my 4th year as a subscriber to birchbox, that just shows how fond I am of the company! they never let me down and are always producing the best boxes and collaborations.

Hi Impact Brows - Eye and Brow Perfector

To me, brows are everything when it comes to makeup. They frame the face and can make or break your look. I don't know about you but brows are what I notice first about someone's face haha.
Brows never used to bother me years ago, i remember being at school and plucking them to an inch of their life - they looked bloody terrible and i never even knew about filling them in either.
My younger sisters where worse, i remember her shaving them once - OMG i know right?!

Gone are the days where thin, sparse, over plucked brows are 'in', it's all about the power brows now!

Cloud Nine - The Original Straightening Iron

I've needed a new pair of straightening irons for some time now, I have had my usual pair of GHD's for a good few years now and it was getting time for an upgrade.
Don't get me wrong they have done me good, but like anything else.. I have to always see if there is anything else better on the market today.
I was lucky enough to be contacted by the people at Cloud Nine, and they asked if i would like to try and review something from their brand, it was like it was meant to be!
I had heard amazing things before about Cloud Nine hair stylers, and I've seen plenty of hair tutorials on YouTube of people using Cloud Nine to give some beautiful hair looks, so i have always had this brand on my mind.

I opted for these straightening irons, as i was desperate for a new pair and i thought it would be interesting to see how they compare to the GHD.

Juicetou - 3 Day Juice Cleanse

I have wanted to do one of these juice cleanses for ever, and there are a number of different companies doing these on the market today, after looking about I found that they are usually ridiculously priced £100 + - that was until i discovered Juicetou!
From what i have seen Juicetou offer the best prices and super fresh ingredients. This brand also seems to be very talked about and the results i've seen on social media with just a 3 day cleanse is amazing.

Juice cleanses aren't for everyone, and i'm not going to lie it was very hard! but the results and getting me back into my healthy routine made it all worth it.

September Favourites

Recently I have gotten way more into skincare, I have been looking for good, new skincare products to try, and since I've adjusted my routine my skin has never looked better. Two of the products in this months favourites have been a key factor in this and I'm so glad I've discovered them.
The other products included are also quite new releases and I instantly fell in love, hence why I think they deserved a spot in my monthly favourites!

September Degustabox

I said this last month but I think this could be the best Degustabox yet! they keep upping their game in my opinion. The day I received this I had just started my 3 day Juice cleanse ...oh the temptation, especially with all the yummy, naughty treats that came inside, it was slight torture to be honest. Usually I don't mind sharing my boxes but I had to save the bags of sweets and Reeses because I knew that once the boys got their hands on them I wouldn't get a look in.

Gelled Nail Kit Review

Who wouldn't want a perfectly shiny, 2 week manicure in just 60 seconds from the comfort of your own home? this is exactly what the Gelled LED nail kit claims to offer. I have had a gel nail kit before by the brand Sensationail, I thought it was ok - it didn't last as long as I expected on the nails but the glossy gel finish was comparable to that at a salon.
When I was offered to test out this Gelled nail kit I thought it would be good to try and see how it compares to the other gel kit I own, this particular kit says there is no need for a basecoat or topcoat (unlike Sensationail) - just paint, cure and go.

Get Glowing with Vita Liberata

If I was ever going to be scared of trying a beauty product, facial tanning would be it!..after all, you can hide a bodge body tanning job under your clothes, but when it comes to your face if its wrong you are pretty much screwed. Plus this specific one by Vita Liberata is a self tanning mask you leave on over night ..eeep! hence why I decided to trial this on the night before the day I wasn't going to leave the house - just because you never know.
The other product I have here is a self tanning bronzer, ive never seen or herd anything like it so I am excited to give you my thoughts on these.

Read on to see if it really was a disaster....

September Birchbox - Happy 5 years !!

This month is a very special one for Birchbox as they are celebrating their 5th birthday, I cant believe how fast that has come, I have been a subscriber for 4 years and i'm still not getting tired of their fabulous boxes - keep up the great work Birchbox and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This months box includes some exciting new brands and releases, from hair-care to foot-care. I also love their version of a Tangle Teezer that they threw in.

Quay Australia Sunglasses Collection

My obsession for the summer has been the sunglasses brand Quay Australia, I had seen them about for a while on social media, their unique and jazzy styles are what drew me in but i could never get my hands on them as they where sold only in Australia- it's always the way.
Then one day I noticed my lovely Blogger friend Serene (from sporting a pair of Quay Shades in the style 'Lana' on her instagram, I commented saying something along the lines of oh my god you have Q/A glasses how the hell did you get those?! she replied - Topshop! so obviously I hurried over to the site and there they where. That's where my obsession Collection began...thanks for that Serene!

NEW Inch Loss Product Launch From Shrinking Violet

Last week I was contacted by the people at Shrinking Violet if I would be interested in trying their brand new inch loss product before its release date today. I will try anything once and I must admit I always get excited and curious about trying something new that helps aid weight loss, teas, shakes you name it but I can honestly say i've never heard of anything like Shrinking Violet. Apparently this is the latest celebrity craze and had been shouted about in the media as a "fantastic loss leader" and is clinically proven- this also caught my attention and made me more curious to try it out.

Veet - Easy Wax Roll-on Kit

Many years back I tried an at home wax kit and I wasn't impressed at all, I got in a right sticky mess, I was left with red sore legs and barely any hair had been pulled out - all the pain with no effect, I deemed these kits pointless and haven't tried one since.
So when I was offered to give one a try again but in a roll on version as opposed to the strips I previously tried I thought why not! they are probably more likely to be a lot better than they used to be, and maybe I will have better skill at something like this now?! we will see..

August Favourites

In August I decided to switch up my skincare routine quite a bit, just because I was getting bad breakouts and thought it was time to try something new to see if anything could work better for my problem skin.
I have also been wearing less makeup and having more makeup free days to help, and lasts months favourites reflect that.

The products I really enjoyed and stood out for me in August where ..

August Degustabox

Out of all the Degustabox's I have received so far the August one has to be my favourite. Everything in this box went down a treat.
If this is the first time you have heard of Degustabox, it is a monthly food subscription service where you get a surprise box of food delivered to your door each month including new and exciting brands/foods to try.

The brands included in this months box are Walkers, The Primal Pantry, Dr. Oetker, Pasquier, Fru Snax, Scheckters, Bahlsen, Life Tonics, Ryvita and Williamson Tea.

Lush - Damaged Hot Oil Hair Treatment

The other day while I was browsing in lush I came across this hot oil hair treatment on a stick - I was pretty intrigued by it so immediately popped it in my basket.
As I haven't seen this product before (think it's new?) I thought I would review it for you guys.

There where 3 different hot oil hair treatments to choose from, Damaged - the one I got, Kinky for curly hair and Tangled to de-tangle and soften.

Sephora Haul

Sephora have been delivering to the UK for a few months now, I have always been tempted but I felt a little un-easy buying from another country, it just usually seems so complicated and I have heard about those nasty surprise customs charges you can be left with too.

Rituals - Ayurveda Scrub

If you are a regular reader you will know I'm a fan of a good ol' body scrub. I got this Rituals Ayurveda scrub in my latest Birchbox, and it completely blew me away so I just had to shout about it to you guys.
This isn't your basic scrub, it's exfoliating, purifying and can be used as a body mask (this excited me the most).

Tanning Tuesdays - Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Mousse (Dark)

This week on the new Tanning Tuesdays series I have decided to review this 1 hour tan mousse by Cocoa Brown.

Cocoa Brown are becoming more and more popular by the day it seems - with well known celebrities supposedly being fans of the brand too such as Kyle Jenner.
I have reviewed this brand on my blog before HERE.. this was my review of their original tanning mousse which I love as well as their scrub and moisturiser.

My MAC Lipstick Collection

After years of collecting MAC lipsticks I think I have enough now that I can do a mac lipstick collection post.
I asked on twitter if you would all like to see them all and I had a great response - plus who doesn't like a mac lipstick?
MAC lipsticks are loved by all makeup fanatics, and its probably down to the wide variety of colours and well as those pain-in-the-arse-to-get-hold-of limited edition collections - don't get me started!!

July Degustabox

A surprise box of food to your door every month including new and exciting brands....yes please!
I'm like a magpie when it comes to shopping (of any sort) and if it looks new, or has nice, swish packaging that bad boy is mine...I'm terrible actually, my other half always pulls me up on it. That's why the Degustabox is perfect for me, I can try lots of new and different food items for just £12.99 a month.
It's something the whole family will love too, my kids love looking through the box when it comes.

Flamingo Candles - The Melt Crowd Box - August

Every month this little box gets popped through my letterbox and I get so excited, Just because the brand Flamingo Candles seem to come up with the most fun and unique fragrances ever, and you'll see what I mean just never gets boring.
Before I even open the box I can smell all the amazing scents. In this months box the first thing I could smell was cakes..Yummy!

Tanning Tuesdays - NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse by Vita Liberata

Seen as I own quite a few tanning products I have decided to do a series on my blog called Tanning Tuesdays, I will be reviewing a new tanning product every Tuesday and I shall rate each one out of 5- on packaging, ease of use, colour, longevity, value for money and scent.
I am always on the quest for the perfect self tanner and with so many on the market these days, in different forms and price brackets, I thought it would be a good idea to give my thoughts on them so you can see what would be best for you.

Kicking of the series is the NKD SKN Tinted Tan Mousse by Vita Liberata (Medium)

July Favourites

This months favourites are very much summer orientated, I just love summer and all of the new beauty releases that come with it.
Although the weather in the UK hasn't been too kind at the moment, I fully intend on pretending it is and getting some good use out of my summer products.
I was lucky enough to get a holiday to Cyprus a few weeks back, it was gorgeous, a week wasn't long enough to be honest - I just really miss the sunshine. I'm forever dreaming of sitting on a golden beach drinking coconut water fresh from the coconut, hey' i'm easy to please! haha - I think I was born to live in a hot country.

Here are the few products I have been loving in July ....

July Birchbox (Birchbag) - Make a Splash

The July Birchbox is a good'un, the only thing I wish is that I got my mitts on it before I went on holiday, it would have been so handy - but instead it was waiting for me as soon as I got home. I was so impressed, even the bright, see-through zip bag it came in was a pretty awesome addition.
Birchbox are always thinking outside the box with their themes (see what I did there?) ha.

Rodial Super Fit - Tummy Tuck and Arm Sculpt review

I have always been a fan of Rodial skincare, with their glamtox cleansing balm being one of my all time favourite cleansers, I was pretty excited to try something from their 'Super Fit' range when I was kindly asked.
I am quite into my fitness and have never really thought of trying to get help with certain areas of my body in the form of skincare.
Although these products by Rodial are named 'tummy tuck' and 'arm sculpt' I wasn't really expecting those things as I think the brand are just being a bit tounge-in-cheek with their branding so to speak.

June Birchbox - Feat French Sole

This months Birchbox theme is 'Step Outside' Which Is about making the most of the sunshine and celebrating the great outdoors. I do think Birchbox keep with their themes really well, especially with this box.
I am on holiday in a few weeks and I can honestly say I will be taking everything inside this box with me, including the nifty little French Sole shoe bag extra! it all seems pretty holiday appropriate.

Flamingo Candles - The Melt Crowd - June Box

I have been a fan of Flamingo Candles since being sent one to try about a year ago, I think it was Applecurrant Crumble. It smelt delicious and had a great scent pay off when burnt, since then I have bought another few candles - just because the prices are fantastic, the scent range is amazing and they look pretty too.

Shop Dixi S/S Harvest Moon Collection - Sneak Preview

Shop Dixi has to be one of my favourite places to buy my jewellery, you get amazing quality and such unique pieces! I have bought quite a few things from Shop Dixi and I am forever being complimented on them, the prices are pretty reasonable too.

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

If you follow me on social media you may have noticed I have gone a little jewellery crazy recently. I seem to have gotten a slight ring obsession woops!
I was contacted by the lovely people at Jewellery Box and they asked if I would like to try a few bits from their site, after having a browse and seeing their massive range along with great prices I had to accept so I could shout about it to you guys.

May Birchbox

The May Birchbox theme is Free Your Mind, and it's all about getting creative! They have even come up with a box which you colour in yourself, it goes brilliantly with the theme and I think it is an excellent idea, especially as all the art therapy/ adult colouring is so popular right now.
You can even choose which WAH London product you would like in your box this month too, I opted for the press on nails because the designs looked I bought some of my own in nude a few weeks back and I loved them!

Tuesday, 12 May 2015

WAH Nails - Negative Space Nail Art Design

A few weeks back Birchbox held a #BirchboxLovesWah competition on twitter where you can enter for a chance to win some WAH London nail art goodies, then if you are chosen they send you a WAH nail polish, nail art pen and a clean up brush, then you have to come up with your own nail art design to blog about.

March & April Favourites

Apologies for the lack of posts recently, I have had quite a bit going on the last couple of weeks, I wasn't very well for a while, my Grandad sadly passed away and I have been painting/Decorating my whole house which was a compete mission- so unfortunately my blog had to take a back seat for a few weeks hence the March and April favourites combined.
So here is what I have been really enjoying in March and April..

Friday, 8 May 2015

April Degustabox

I had seen this Degustabox food parcel floating around social media for a while now, probably like most of you?
I was always intrigued, so when I was asked if I would like to try out my own food box I jumped at the chance -  who wouldn't like a surprise , big parcel of food and drink goodies to try every month?!
This is like the food equivalent of beauty boxes and something the whole family can appreciate and enjoy.

Monday, 27 April 2015

DIY Nails - Foil Nailcals

I posted about some DIY Nails nailcals a month or so ago (here), I got sent some to try and I loved them so much I went and bought a few packs of the foil ones.
Now I'm completely obsessed, they are so easy to use and they look amazing on! I posted a few nail looks on my Instagram (@zoelou_) and Twitter (@classicrouge) using these nail decals and they proved to be very popular, so I thought I would give them their own little post.

LollyRocket Candle Co - NEW 1Lb Candles and Wax Melts

A good few months back I reviewed a trio of candles (here) that I picked up from LollyRocket and so many of you went out and picked some up, so today I had to share with you some new additions to LollyRocket's ever growing candle selection.
They have now started selling a larger 1lb sized box candle, and wax melts and they really don't disappoint. If you tried the smaller 1/2lb candles I reviewed and thought they had a good scent throw, then just wait till you try these!

Limited Edition - Tatler Birchbox

When I spotted Birchbox where doing a limited edition box I got pretty excited! because if Birchbox where doing a one off limited edition box it's bound to be pretty amazing...and it really doesn't disappoint.
This beautifully designed limited edition box is a collaboration with the high fashion magazine company Tatler. The theme of this box is 'The Best of British' where each item in the box is from places all over Britain which I think is a great idea to get to know some local brands. The brands that are included in here are just fabulous, with some I already know and love such as Liz Earle and Aromatherapy Associates.

Thursday, 26 March 2015

LiLash & LiBrow

When it comes to products that claim to lengthen and thicken hair, I have always been a little sceptical. I guess I didn't really believe a product could truly do that, I had given a few things on the market a go that promised to grow back my sparse brows from over plucking as a teen but no such luck I'm afraid.
I was asked by the lovely people at LiBrow if I wanted to give their products a trial, I went for it as I thought I had nothing to loose, plus wouldn't it be great it they actually did give me bambi lashes and fuller brows!?

Cocoa Brown Tan

I had always seen the Cocoa Brown tan range about, and heard lots of people sing its praises I just never thought about trying it. This is probably because fake tans scare me due to a few fake tanning nightmares in my time. I have mentioned before in another self tanner post, I found a self tanner I really liked and just stuck to it, that was the Xen Tan absolute luxe one.. but at £40 a pop it is a very expensive habit.
I just thought the more expensive the better results i'm more likely to get...false Zoe, FALSE!

Recipe - Healthy Chipotle Chicken Tostadas, with a Kidney Bean & Greek Yoghurt Mash

These are a huge favourite in my house at the moment, they are great for a lunch or dinner.  If you like your Mexican food you will love this!
Chipotle paste is an ingredient that is always in my house, I use it for so many things, it has this wonderful spicy but smoky flavour, then having the kidney bean & Greek yoghurt mash with this dish cools it down a little- almost like a healthy, protein packed sour cream alternative!
This dish has so much flavour, it's really quick and easy to make not to mention totally delicious, so obviously I just had to share it with you all.

February Favourites

The favourites post is a teeny bit late, apologies but better late then never I guess. A few of my favourites from last month have been products I have bought, tried and not really liked...what a turn around that they have now made it to this post!

March Birchbox Feat Habitat

This months Birchbox comes wonderfully packaged in this lovely eye catching, colourful box! probably my favourite design yet!
Birchbox have collaborated with the lifestyle and homeware gurus at Habitat this month, so their box is themed around 'DO try this at home' - they have also included an exclusive offer for subscribers so they can get a very generous 20% off Habitat's new SS15 Collection.
