Lush - Honey I Washed My Hair

Granted, this isn't the prettiest thing from Lush to look at, but when I spotted this on their website in the 'new section' and that it was called Honey I washed my Hair, I thought oh yes!! this is going to have my favourite Lush scent, like their very famous Honey I Washed the Kids soap.
This is a solid shampoo bar, I wasn't sure how I would feel about using shampoo in this form, but all I knew was that I wanted my hair to smell of that honey/toffee goodness so I took the plunge when I spotted it in my nearest store.

My son decided he wanted to carry the Lush paper bag that it came in, it wasn't a great Idea on my behalf as it was raining, he's only tiny,  and it was a paper bag! - yep you guessed it..a clean hole at the bottom of my bag with no sight of my Honey I Washed my Hair shampoo!! every thing else we bought was still inside but the thing I wanted most from the shop was long gone...always the way.
I was that desperate to try it I bought another.

I think it was worth it though! and who ever may have found it on the floor got a treat too the lucky bugger.

As I said above, I have never tried a shampoo bar before and wasn't quite sure how to use it. I did some online research, and all you do is rub it on your wet hair till enough of a lather forms then rinse - pretty simple actually. It sounds daft that I had to look up how to use it, but I wasn't sure if I had to break bits off.
When I first tried this I think I went a little over board, I wasn't expecting it to foam much being a solid shampoo so I kept rubbing.. then as I massaged it into my scalp woah!! I looked like i'd been dragged through a car wash, so now I know you only need to rub it on your head just a teeny bit.

If you are a fan of the Honey I Washed the Kids soap from Lush you will love this as it has that exact same creamy, toffee/honey smell, it's gorgeous and the scent really stays on your hair too.

This shampoo bar is made with Honey, Wild Orange and Bergamot oils and claims to leave your hair soft and shiny...and I can tell you now it does just that, but without leaving it feeling stripped.
After using this shampoo bar I followed it with my usual conditioner, my hair was so much shiner, it felt a lot more softer and cleaner - not to mention smelling flipping amazing!

I recon this little shampoo bar is going to last me ages, and its the perfect travel companion...It's going to be great to take on holidays and save you taking big shampoo bottles, or travel sized ones that may not last you your entire holiday.

Have you tried a Lush solid shampoo bar? What are your thoughts? I would love to hear them.

Thanks for reading,
Love Zoe x

  1. I would never have given this a second glance in the store. It's certainly not a looker, nor would I ever really think of using a solid shampoo bar but your review has got me wanting to give this a try. The honey/toffee smell sounds absolutely divine. Shame you had to repurchase because you lost your first one though! Great review xxx

  4. What a shame the first one you brought was lost, but it was lovely that your son wanted to help carry the shopping! I've never tried a shampoo bar before but it sounds like this one easily creates a lather and smells lovely :) xx

  7. Sounds amazing! I've never actually tried the shampoo bars, but I've tried the conditioner bars and the Curly Wurly shampoo. I find anything in solid form hard to work with, but with Lush, it's oh so worth it. Great post!

  8. Hahaha, paper bags are rubbish in the rain! This sounds lovely, although I would feel so strange not using liquid shampoo! I went to India last year and I took one of the solid shower gel/ shampoo things (not this solid though, like a putty) and it was so hot in our bathroom that it melted haha.

  9. Ah can't believe your first one fell out of the broken bag, hope whoever stumbled upon it was a Lush fan and really appreciated it. This sounds amazing, even though I have never tried this particular scent or a shampoo bar for that matter. If it leaves you hair silky and glossy count me in, as I will definitely be looking for it on my next trip to Lush x
