Doesn't this palette just scream Autumn to you? The Smashbox Cherry Smoke Eye shadow Palette contains eight beautiful, deep, earthy toned shades with an even amount of shimmers and mattes, so there is something for everyone.
At the moment I seem to be loving the whole coppery/burnished red tones eye shadow wise and I've noticed it being popular with other people too. I think that's what initially drew me to this palette as its just simply full it - the name of this is very fitting to the palette as it can create the most striking cherry smokey eye looks.
I can also get away with wearing this in the day by just sticking to the less intense shades so its a pretty versatile palette to have, if you like warm tones that is?.
The casing is pretty unique to my other palettes as it's really sturdy, compact and has this pretty nifty magnetic closure. Once you fold down the lid it connects with the magnetic clip and shuts itself securely - I thought that was pretty swish; oh the little things eh ? haha.
The versatile, compact packaging and internal mirror makes one perfect travel companion. I think it looks really nice too with its strong, shiny, black plastic casing and metallic silver accents. I don't own a single palette that holds anymore than four shades to fit nicely into my makeup bag as this does.
Now onto the eye shadows..
|First Row - Top to Bottom - Bare, Unadorned|
Middle Row - Top to Bottom - Shell, Rustic, Oxidize
Last Row - Top to Bottom - Topaz, Dark Cocoa, Ebony
Unadorned - A medium shimmery bronze/brown shade, this one is gorgeous- I like to wear this in the crease with shell all over the lid for a simple every day kinda look.
|L-R - Shell, Topaz, Rustic, Dark Cocoa, Oxidize, Ebony Swatched|
Shell - Is a shimmery, pale, frosty gold shade its really beautiful and pretty unique.
Topaz - Is a pretty shimmery, light bronze/taupe shade.
Rustic - Is a deep, matte brown/cherry red shade.
Dark Cocoa - Is a matte, rich dark chocolate brown shade.
Oxidize - Is this beautiful shimmery, burnished orangey red shade. This one has to be one of my favourites from the palette. It looks stunning under the lower lash line.
Ebony - Is a dark matte black shade, I'd only use this one for lining the top of my lash line instead of a liquid liner.
All the shadows in this palette are so pigmented and rich, they are all really buttery soft but I did experience some fall out on the darker shades, nothing too crazy - this is probably due to how pigmented and soft they are?...a little goes a long way with these shadows.
The only shade I'm not to fond of is Ebony, one reason being I'm not really one to use black shadows and the other reason is because it seems slightly patchy in application to me; you might spot this in my swatch above?.
At first I did think there where no eye shadow names on the packaging itself (just on the side of the box) then I noticed a sticky label you can peel on the back of the palette - if you peel it open it shows the shades and it also gives you some ideas on different eye looks you can create - I thought was a nice little extra.
Another Smashbox palette I've been thinking about for a while is the Full Exposure one, so if you've tried it you'll have to let me know what you think below please.
