When I spotted that Nails Inc where joining forces with the style icon Alexa Chung (who is also the new face of the brand), I knew straight away this was going to be a winning combo. Then when I looked at the press release for the new Alexa line they all where nail effect/texture polishes; if your a regular reader of Classic Rouge you'll know I'm not really a fan of these...I just prefer the shiny, glossy look and I find that these texture ones that are about can sometimes look rather tacky.
On the other hand was Alexa Chung really going to bring out a load of polishes that would be anything less than chic? probably not.
I trusted Alexa and decided to give one a go in the shade Cashmere, lets see if I was swayed into the world of texture nail polishes.
As you have noticed Nails Inc have indeed changed up their bottle design and brand font, I think they look so much better; Instead of the usual rounded bottle and plastic lid, they are now in these chic looking, glass rectangular bottles with a rather heavy silver lid, they just feel and look more expensive, changing their bottles was definitely a walk in the right direction.. this alone just made me want to get my hands on them.
I like the way that when you pop off the silver lid your left with the little black one underneath that makes it easier to hold your brush and apply the polish, just like those Chanel ones.
Alexa Cashmere caught my eye first, it looks like the most perfect nude colour and reminds me a bit of my favourite L'oreal Cheryl's Nude Lipstick, it has that same nude colour with slight purple tones to it.
The formula of this polish is brilliant, it applies smoothly, the brush makes application so easy as it fits perfectly to the arch of your nail bed due to the brush being slightly tapered and flat.
After I applied two coats and waited a few minutes for it to dry (without top coat) then effect of the polish came out; The effect that I saw was nothing crazy and totally wearable I was pretty impressed, It kind of dries slightly matte with a teeny tiny grainy effect to give it that cashmere look but its still very subtle. Its quite the classy looking and would be perfect for Autumn/Winter months.
If I like the shade of an effect polish id usually just go over it with my Seche Vite top coat to make it glossy and smooth again, but I have had this on for days now without top coat (no chips in sight) and I must say that I really rather like this.
Also some nude polishes make my hands look all corpsy but this particular shade just compliments my skin tone and makes everything look more erm.. polished..funny that!
If your like me and are not really a fan of these texture polishes id recommend you have a look at the Nails Inc Alexa Range... I think you may change your mind.
Next on my list is to try the Nail Kale range, Alexa Sequins and Alexa Leather.
