Motivational Mondays ~ Keeping it Simple

Today I have decided to start a new series on my blog that goes by the name of Motivational Mondays, my aim is to help those of you who feel like taking a step in the right direction towards a more healthier lifestyle.. from time to time we all need that little kick up the butt to help keep us going and I thought this would be a great idea, what do you think?.

I have spoke about my weight loss journey in older posts here and here if you would like a read.
To cut a long story short, after having my 2 baby boys Alfie 3 and Charlie 16 months I gained quite a bit of weight, I was really unhappy and embarrassed about the way I looked, and realised only I could do something about it.

After all life is too short to feel unhappy in your own skin so you may as well feel confident, happy, healthy and make the right changes.

I'm kicking off this series with Keeping it Simple.
I found that all these fad diets that about just never worked for me (well any I've tried), they would leave me feeling  mostly hungry, weak and I got bored super fast so they would only last a week or two. Yes you may loose weight the first few weeks but a lot of these diets can slow your metabolism which potentially makes it harder for your body to burn off fat in the long run.
This is where I went back to basics, no "diet" for me its a lifestyle change and all about making those sensible food choices such as swapping white bread/rice/pasta to whole grains.. I'm not even strict with calorie counting either.

Its all about eating the right, good foods and in moderation, it couldn't be more simple really.

6 small meals a day is brilliant as it keeps your metabolism going and makes fat burning even better, plus it stops you from feeling hungry in the day and will give you tons more energy for that gym session.

I also allow my self one treat day a week where I will be a little more lenient with what I eat, I think you have to do this just so you don't crash and burn as you may miss these kind of treats every now and again; if im being honest when the chocolate cravings hit they hit hard haha.
It also helps if you have friends/family around that you can do this with then you can motivate each other and set little challenges.
My partner started this journey with me as he was unhappy about his weight too, he's been my fitness rock throughout this; he has done amazingly, I don't think I would have got this far if he wasn't doing it along side me, its also fun to workout together too.

The next thing to tie in with it all is to get that heart pumping and exercise people! it burns calories, tones that bod and makes you feel amazing too.
I try to do a bit everyday it could be anything from a power walk to town lugging a double buggy around, to weights and a good 1hr30min long as your something active to make your heart pump its all a good thing!

Making these little changes will also do wonders for your skin, drink lots of water throughout the day it makes all the difference! Being a beauty blogger you can spend loads on makeup and skincare, but it's never going to look good and work right if your not feeding your skin from the inside out with the right foods. 

I've never been quite brave enough to post a "before" picture just because I was so ashamed i let myself go that way, but now I'm in a better place now so I don't mind showing you.. :) I'm still on my journey but set myself different goals. I've come to learn this kind if thing takes alot of time and unfortunately it doesn't happen overnight.

Just keep going and you'll get there in the end; think of the satisfaction! 

The before picture on the left was taken December 2013 dress size 16 the one on the right is after taken June 2014 dress size 12 ( a year ago you wouldn't have caught me dead in a bodycon dress either ha!) 

I really would love it if I have inspired you in any kind of way, just to fulfil a healther way of life, at the end of the day your health is so important, and so is your confidence.

  6. Hi Zoe, I love reading these stories - that the easiest and most obvious solution is the one that will actually work.
    I have deep self control issues which is something I need to work on, but i have loved this post and love that you feel comfortable enough to share your before picture. I hope that oneday I can do that same (have to work on the after picture first).

  7. This is amazing! Loved reading this post. I'm in a similar situation to you where I was just sick of being unhappy and thought the only way I can change that is if I got up and did something about it. I don't follow any kind of strict plan, for me it's all about making healthier choices and realising 'you don't need that bag of crisps with your lunch!' and vegetables CAN taste good haha.   10. Hello, thanks for your lovely comment! Yea I just see so many diets out there that just starve you and that way isn't right or good for your body, it really is simple :).. I had no self control either but it's a mind set.. Just think where you want to be and tell yourself that you can do it.. And believe me you will!

  14. Wow! What a lovely post! I also really enjoyed the two earlier posts that you linked! I really like hearing about your weight loss journey and your recipes and fitness routines! I lost 30 lbs last year but I am still trying to keep up with my healthy lifestyle as it was a huge challenge for me to get where I am now, and I still have more goals I want to reach :) Very inspirational indeed!!!
